Hello Quail Community! I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve the community in this leadership role.

My name is Juan Cardenas and I am joining the A.P. Wooldridge team as the new Principal. I come to AISD after more than 20 years in education. I started my administration career in Hays CISD and moved to AISD last year to Walnut Creek Elementary as the Assistant Principal. I have always enjoyed teaching in schools where multilingual and multicultural learners are welcome and nurtured. I see that is the case here at Wooldridge. As an immigrant and bilingual learner, I truly believe multicultural education has to be available and encouraged to all students and families.

I was born and raised in Colombia, then moved to the United States in 2001. I enjoy all forms of soccer and spending the summers back home with my family.

I am very excited to work with this talented staff and such engaged families. I can easily see how this school is really committed to provide all students with the best learning opportunities. I commit to create meaningful relationships with the educators, families and students at Wooldridge. I hope together we can take advantage of all the growth opportunities this school year will provide for me as a new Principal, and to you as an essential part of the education process.

Mi nombre es Juan Cárdenas y me estoy uniendo al equipo de la escuela A.P. Wooldridge como el nuevo director. Llego a AISD luego de más de 20 años en educación pública. Inicié mi carrera administrativa en el distrito unificado de HAYS y luego vine a la escuela primaria Walnut Creek para ser el subdirector. Siempre he disfrutado enseñar en escuelas donde los estudiantes multiculturales y multilingües son bienvenidos e incentivados. Yo puedo ver que ése es el caso aquí en Wooldridge. Como inmigrante y aprendiz bilingüe creo fuertemente en que la educación multicultural debe ser fomentada y tiene que estar disponible para todos los estudiantes y sus familias.

Nací y fui criado en Colombia y luego vine a los Estados Unidos en el año 2001. Me gusta mucho el fútbol y regresar a casa todos los veranos para visitar a mi familia.

Estoy muy emocionado de trabajar con un grupo de educadores tan talentoso y con unas familias tan involucradas. Puedo ver fácilmente cómo esta escuela está verdaderamente comprometida en proveer a sus estudiantes las mejores oportunidades de aprendizaje. Me comprometo a crear relaciones significativas con los maestros, familias y los estudiantes de la escuela. Espero que juntos podamos tomar ventaja de las oportunidades de crecimiento que este año nos va a otorgar tanto a mí como un nuevo director y a ustedes, la comunidad como parte esencial del proceso educativo.
